Exactly. In my prime I was doing two a days and even on the weekends I did some type of more relaxed activity for an hour or two, like hiking, mountain biking, and/or walking the dog.

If we're talking about weightlifting or powerlifting, then 7.5 hours a week are a bit excessive. What's that, 1.5h 5 times a week?
A natural athlete wouldn't normally be able to do that sustainably (unless you're just fucking around in the gym). The gentlemen who lift that long that often are on steroids. Steroids allow your body to recover much faster so you can train a lot of more.
And steroids do increase your risk of heart disease.
So the article title is correct in a sense, but it's juicing that will increase your risk of heart disease, not the exercise.
Comparing weightlifting or powerlifting to physical labor doesn't make any sense.
I spent a decade doing manual labor, all sorts of full body workouts, although it’d usually target one specific part of the body for hours on end. I shoveled multiple dump truck loads of stone/soil/mulch in a single day regularly, depending on what kind of job it was that my crew and I were doing, so 5 to 15 tons of material a day, unloaded thousands of pounds of bricks in a single session multiple times, and laid them after digging the trench for the retaining wall they’d be used for. I’ve never felt better than when I used to do that sort of work, now I’m doing a much less labor intensive job and I’m fat. Just absurd to suggest working out is bad for a White man.
I did the same things, in construction and quarry work. Worked out 8-12 hours per day, 5 days a week, was outside almost the entire day, and was in fantastic shape. I never felt better than when I did that, and it was the healthiest I've ever been in my life. Getting paid while getting a work out and being outside, most people don't understand what a blessing that is, because they only see it as "hard work". Unfortunately, the mass importations of Juans, Miguels, and Joses have massively depressed the wages for manual labor jobs.
I'm 95% sure these studies compared people who exercised and ate goyslop enriched with high fructose corn syrup with people who ate the same but didn't exercise.
You can't eat goyslop and exercise. You need to change your diet too.

Even if you died earlier, you’re life is so much more enjoyable and meaningful when you can perform basic movements more efficiently and without pain. I see how some of my inactive fat friends live, and I’d off myself if I lived my life the way they do. The only activity they get is walking from home to car, car to work, and back.

For shits and giggles, let’s say I do agree with you, you’re definitely going to have a rough time on this planet if you don’t take care of your body and keep at least your lower body strong and competent. One of the main indicating factors or mortality use to be lower body, and anterior core strength. I don’t think that’s changed.
I thought that there was an issue that some body builders taking large doses of anabolic steroids which lead to heart problems and deaths in their forties. They still need to work out a lot to shape their body. Indeed, part of the value of steroids is that it lets them work out more. So any statistics on exercise and heart disease will be corrupted by a small number of men doing lots of exercise and too much steriods.
There is also a movement of "natural" bodybuilders, *natty* in the jargon. If there is a problem, it is two steps removed from exercising for strength and fitness. The first step is succumbing to vanity and becoming a *natty* bodybuilder. The second step is obsessing with appearances to the point of using steroids.
