I thought that there was an issue that some body builders taking large doses of anabolic steroids which lead to heart problems and deaths in their forties. They still need to work out a lot to shape their body. Indeed, part of the value of steroids is that it lets them work out more. So any statistics on exercise and heart disease will be corrupted by a small number of men doing lots of exercise and too much steriods.

There is also a movement of "natural" bodybuilders, *natty* in the jargon. If there is a problem, it is two steps removed from exercising for strength and fitness. The first step is succumbing to vanity and becoming a *natty* bodybuilder. The second step is obsessing with appearances to the point of using steroids.
