Personal tips? Any favorite historical love letters as examples?

Thoughts on a kind of alternative to a love letter a single person might write as well?
I was revisiting thinking of the virtue of obedience and various issues that may come up with respect to it. Some authorities may make non-authoritative commands, or sinful commands, or some people may make commands who do not possess authority. I recall people arguing the "Nuremberg Defense" that Nazis were "just following orders" (being obedient to the Nazi political authorities) was not valid. Civil rights movements have promoted the idea of "civil disobedience" over laws which were not sinful, but which created inconveniences. The idea of "American freedom" to pursue one's self-interest may seem to be contrary to obedience, when taken without limit. Have you run in to instances as these or have some to bring up to discuss?

Does this appear to still be true today or how have things changed?

> Proponents of Albert Ellis' Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy cite a construct or concept they call low frustration tolerance (LFT), or "short-term hedonism" in order to partly explain behaviors like procrastination and certain other apparently paradoxical or self-defeating behavior. It is defined as seeking immediate pleasure or avoidance of pain at the cost of long-term stress and defeatism.

> The concept was originally developed by psychologist Albert Ellis who theorized that low frustration tolerance is an evaluative component in dysfunctional and irrational beliefs. Behaviors are then derived towards avoiding frustrating events which, paradoxically, lead to increased frustration and even greater mental stress.

> In REBT the opposite construct is "high frustration tolerance".

> Furthermore, low frustration tolerance is characteristic of conditions such as:

> Depression[1]
> Asperger's syndrome[2]
> ADHD.[3]

> Philately (/fɪˈlætəliː/ fi-la-tə-lee) is the study of stamps and postal history and other related items. Philately involves more than just stamp collecting, which does not necessarily involve the study of stamps. It is possible to be a philatelist without owning any stamps.[1] For instance, the stamps being studied may be very rare, or reside only in museums.

There's also a catalog issued by the USPS of same name (PDF, I think there's a newer one out): https://www.usps.com/stamp-collecting/assets/pdf/usa_philatelic_catalog.pdf

> Why do you think that's a good idea?

I think it's important to have free access to medicine, and not wise for us to currently have meds locked away from the average person and only available by doctor prescription. Many of the natural substances that are made in to artificial drugs seem to have some medicinal value, like coca is used for altitude sickness I think (which is made in to cocaine), and opium for painkillers (which is made in to heroin / or poppy plants). We should be able to grow and consume such products responsibly.

I also think we should live in an adult society that prioritizes personal responsibility and freedom to make such mistakes (like becoming addicted) over paternalistic restrictions in this case. Like, I doubt you are going to do heroin tomorrow if it's legal, so it seems like it would be fine for a lot of people to legalize drugs entirely.

obviously that's different and they morally deserve help if it can be supplied to them

on a related note, I learned recently that fentanyl is used medicinally in hospitals... I thought it was purely a "street drug" with no medicinal value

I don't really agree as a gun manufacturer could be held responsible for misuse of a gun, but it's ultimately the user that's responsible; additionally opium is used medicinally as a painkiller, and coca as a high altitude remedy, I'm more focused on having meds be legal (the derivatives of them may be intense and less useful)

lol sorry this is brand new federation with scored I think...?

I think really it comes down to creating a culture that wouldn't turn towards addiction, and then we would probably legalize drugs anyway as it wouldn't cause as many problems. Like if certain drugs were legalized today, you probably wouldn't turn to them again. So we need to have people develop that kind of attitude that even if legal they won't abuse them, that kind of thing. But it would bring down costs for healthcare (being able to grow your own medicine) and I think it's a dangerous precedent that we have all kinds of meds out of the hands of the average consumer as it makes us dependent on doctors to prescribe necessary meds at times.

ehhh, I think it really depends on the morality of the people

for example, if drugs were legal tomorrow, would you go "shoot up heroin"? Probably not, so it really comes down to people and culture being responsible, then they will probably legalize drugs anyway as it wouldn't be an issue and would reduce healthcare costs (when you can grow your own medicine)

https://infogalactic.com/info/Rerum_Novarum

I think the translation in the OP is ok

The papal encyclical "Rerum Novarum" encouraged certain work conditions or reforms for workers (in response to some of the excesses of the Industrial Revolution):

(from its first two words, Latin for "of revolutionary change"[n 1]

> It was an open letter, passed to all Catholic bishops, that addressed the condition of the working classes.

> Of primary concern was the need for some amelioration of "The misery and wretchedness pressing so unjustly on the majority of the working class."[5] It supported the rights of labor to form unions, rejected socialism and unrestricted capitalism, whilst affirming the right to private property.

> Fair wages are defined in Rerum novarum as at least a living wage, but Leo recommended paying more than that: enough to support the worker, his wife and family, with a little savings left over so that the worker can improve his condition over time.[15]
I'm kind of for legalizing all drugs, slowly, while also putting in place societal infrastructure for discouraging the abuse of drugs and to help people who become addicts.

I can elaborate on further reasons for legalization of drugs if requested; it is not however a top priority to me as a policy issue so I don't focus on it as much for that reason.

What do you think about drug legalization or criminalization?

I liked the idea of Colemak, but it never became faster than QWERTY for me: https://colemak.com/

Dvorak seems interesting just older

I saw some people promote "Halmak" but it's a minority interest (may have been an attempt to tweak Colemak)

The Carpalx people have some exotic designs: http://mkweb.bcgsc.ca/carpalx/

Of course going in a different direction is stenography, the open steno project: https://www.openstenoproject.org/

or the Characorder: https://www.charachorder.com/

Have you tried an alternative keyboard layout to QWERTY or an alternative to keyboard designs altogether with steno?
