Is this vid saying something negative against celibacy? Because doesn't Paul even speak positively of celibacy?

> Protestant marriages are canonically invalid

If both parties are baptized validly I thought they were valid but illicit

> within the church its fairly low

I do not consider the Vatican 2 church to be the Catholic Church, however even accepting it as such for the sake of argument, there is a de facto divorce problem with doubtful "annulments", which have ballooned in number in the last maybe half century

However a lower divorce rate among such "Catholics" may also be due to there being the safeguards in place that there is a whole process to go through to be married as a "Catholic", and those who are unwilling to go through the trouble just wouldn't marry at all, whereas with protestants the barrier to "marriage" is probably much lower which also allows for a lower barrier for "divorce"

There's been a history of taking non-Christian things and making them Christian, but it's also possible people could make more use of Christian events or create them

> Why do you think that's a good idea?

I think it's important to have free access to medicine, and not wise for us to currently have meds locked away from the average person and only available by doctor prescription. Many of the natural substances that are made in to artificial drugs seem to have some medicinal value, like coca is used for altitude sickness I think (which is made in to cocaine), and opium for painkillers (which is made in to heroin / or poppy plants). We should be able to grow and consume such products responsibly.

I also think we should live in an adult society that prioritizes personal responsibility and freedom to make such mistakes (like becoming addicted) over paternalistic restrictions in this case. Like, I doubt you are going to do heroin tomorrow if it's legal, so it seems like it would be fine for a lot of people to legalize drugs entirely.

obviously that's different and they morally deserve help if it can be supplied to them

on a related note, I learned recently that fentanyl is used medicinally in hospitals... I thought it was purely a "street drug" with no medicinal value

I don't really agree as a gun manufacturer could be held responsible for misuse of a gun, but it's ultimately the user that's responsible; additionally opium is used medicinally as a painkiller, and coca as a high altitude remedy, I'm more focused on having meds be legal (the derivatives of them may be intense and less useful)

lol sorry this is brand new federation with scored I think...?

I think really it comes down to creating a culture that wouldn't turn towards addiction, and then we would probably legalize drugs anyway as it wouldn't cause as many problems. Like if certain drugs were legalized today, you probably wouldn't turn to them again. So we need to have people develop that kind of attitude that even if legal they won't abuse them, that kind of thing. But it would bring down costs for healthcare (being able to grow your own medicine) and I think it's a dangerous precedent that we have all kinds of meds out of the hands of the average consumer as it makes us dependent on doctors to prescribe necessary meds at times.

ehhh, I think it really depends on the morality of the people

for example, if drugs were legal tomorrow, would you go "shoot up heroin"? Probably not, so it really comes down to people and culture being responsible, then they will probably legalize drugs anyway as it wouldn't be an issue and would reduce healthcare costs (when you can grow your own medicine)

it is currently listed on the redditalternatives megathread, so there have been hundreds or thousands of people who may have seen the link, I wonder if the admin should be tagged to see how many people have clicked and come through

seems to be mostly u and I posting on this forum, although it was mentioned on redditalternatives site for those who might be seeking an alternative after the current reddit drama

btw, off topic but I'm looking at my notifications and there are a lot of duplicates, which I thought was some kind of error of multiple people accidentally posting things, but I'm wondering if there's some kind of duplicate notifications going on

I like that it's a little faster and therefore practical over regular handwriting

shorthand of some kind is even faster

it's also a kind of lost art like calligraphy

has it worked for you? I haven't tried it, looks like it works for some people, and seems like it could have a (perhaps unknown) scientific basis for why it works

yeah, sometimes I just post things to think about the concept

on this one I see pros and cons

this actual project might be objected to like you mention due to the board being a bit "iffy"

is the carless community concept useful?

or is it something that is a sign of things declining?

I can go both ways on this, either we should make personal transportation like cars cheaper and more eco-friendly, or if they are too costly and environmentally intensive, then perhaps we should seek alternative arrangements and designs

thanks for the heads up, I just noticed it suddenly became quieter

I did join chats but didn't end up really reading or participating (intended to, but never got around to it)

what would you describe the site as being about currently? I just saw it linked from scored conpro so idk if anything has change over time, is there like an about page I should re-read?

I just happened to see something too, otherwise it's my first year hearing of it (or I might have heard of it before but didn't really check it out)
