Such a great post, and I totally agree. I’ve had a similar discussion a few times when the topic of “smartphones” in your pocket comes up, how’s it’s dumbed us all down, and caused us to stop taking a moment to just think about things, and recall memory, especially those whom were born after 1990, or so. Coincidentally around the same time said kids were becoming of driving age, the cars were also, at least in my opinion, becoming overly computerized, and automated with way too many many assists, and what I call lazy driver options. They also started becoming much more difficult to work on yourself. There’s a reason the “cash for clunkers” was employed when it was. I’ll personally never own a vehicle built after 2010, unless it’s actually given to me by someone else.

Shit, almost nobody can parallel park anymore without all kinds of assist, let alone back into a parking space. Watching people try to reverse out of situations in general is downright “comical” today. You use to actually have to learn your vehicle, and become one with it while developing spacial awareness. That shit is beyond dead now. As far as smartphones are concerned, most people can’t even remember more than one, or two phone numbers tops, meanwhile when I was around 6 or so, I could rattle off everyone’s phone number I knew. I’m talking around 20 friends, and family no problem. Another thing people refuse to do, is trust themselves with basic math anymore. I’m talking basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They always pull out their calculator app before they even attempt to compute it themselves. It’s sad.
