I've got a 5-speed european econobox with a comically underpowered engine (performs well on highways because it weighs nothing, but still) from 1996. I've driven exclusively standard since I turned 18 (except when I have to use company vehicles). My dad taught me how to drive stick before i knew how to drive at all in a chevy s10 from the 80s. Still, even though im well experienced, my current car has absolutely 0 distractions and 0 assists because it's an old European econobox of course. As a result, I genuinely feel like a better driver with this than I did with past cars. You have to stay fully locked in, there's no cruise control, no hill assists, and the engine wants to stall at the drop of a hat when moving off in first because it's a petrol with a whopping 57 horsepower and 0 torque. But it's fun to drive, and it keeps me engaged all the time I'm using it.
