You think it's safe to take it a step further and for each repetition of heavy squat you do, you sit in that position for a few seconds?

I wouldn't try that. If your tendons are flexible enough it would be a relaxed position sitting at the bottom which wouldn't help your lift. If you are not flexible enough, I think it would be too much strain on your tendons and you might pull something and injure yourself.

Honestly, I already do this. I don't do it for anything crazy heavy, but, 225 for 10 seconds at the bottom is pretty easy for me. As far as I know, I haven't felt any sort of negative affects from it, so maybe it is as well good for you, or I'm just young enough to be able to take it.
