This is misleading data. There's no FEDERAL law about it because it is not an enumerated power in the CONSTITUTION, therefore is left to the STATES.
STATES within the US have the exact laws this map is saying the US doesn't have.

Talk about misleading. EU population is 450 million, UK is another 63 million, plus millions in other European states. US population only 342 million and *none* of the US states is anywhere close to size of Europe.
Also, about the states you mentioned:

It's important to note the feds do all sorts of things not spelled out for them in the constitution, and often that actively contradict the constitution. In fact the feds already have a law interfering with time off, the family and medical leave act of 1993.
Granted, that law only allows unpaid time off where employers have to take the employee back, and it only applies in certain circumstances. But my point is they would step over the constitution in a heartbeat, as they have done countless times, if they wanted to.

many small technology-oriented companies in the USA offer _real_ profit sharing in the company's success. So people will work hard and make shit happen and then get paid. and I mean real money. money that makes your yearly salary look like a tiny bonus. Something unique to the USA.

The company is mandated by law to allow paid vacation. Employees do not have to take it, but they usually do and companies are often mandated to remind their employees about unused PTO. All countries, except the US have some form of laws like this.
Europeons have insane amounts of vacation when they first start. They get 20 days vacation + 10-13 days of holidays. that's a month and a half off, per year.
Maternity leave is FULLY paid, for 14 weeks.... 25% of the year, add in vacation and holidarys... you've got an employee that 100+ days out of 260 work days.
Now, imagine you're some hole in the wall business with 4-6 employees. and two women go on maternity leave at the same time.
We had a guy claim he hurt his back, he got full pay for the entire time he was gone, which was a year and a half, and they couldn't fire him, or even hire a replacement to do his work. They ended up using unpaid interns to do his job. (he was head of IT...)
When I left the company 7 years later, I found out he was still on paid medical leave.

But when you compare it to the dogshit work culture of the US and other countries like Japan and ROK (where they have mandated pto in technicality, but there's a severe societal shame for taking it), it works out better in the long run, because people will have better morale. The employees who don't use them, I wonder what percent work at companies where you can cash out unused PTO at the end of the year?
That would be interesting to know, but I suspect the majority of unused PTO is because of peer pressure and fear of losing their job if they leave for more than a couple of days.
I dunno about others, but I once worked at a company that would just pay out your unused PTO as a Christmas bonus on your last paycheck of the year. Seemed to be an industry standard at the time. You could choose to notify them to not pay it out and let it accumulate, however the actual amount of time off did not rollover, so if you didn't take your amount of days available, then you technically forego them. Just one example.
The young nepo baby that is part of my department told me he let a week of pto expire last year. I dont think he'll do that again after the relentless bullying I've been giving him.

The only reason that Europe has them is because a long time ago people started murdering other people because of it and you had 3 different violent and anti capitalist ideologies (marxism, fascism, and national socialism) that had adherents who either did or wanted to kill their employers and industrial lords. For some information as to the who and what of fascistic and national socialist anti capitalism: mussolini despised capitalism and slowly eliminated it during his tenure as prime Minister. When he had full power over the Italian social Republic, which he did not have in Italy (he was technically subordinate to the king and was forced to people please in several aspects), he completely nationalized every business with over 100 employees. Mussolini was a radical socialist, but not a marxist, and he was also an intelligent opportunist who knew how to advance his party. He lived and died an avowed socialist, and he siphoned most of his support from communists and socialists who could see the vision like nicola bombacci. Evidence of this is in, once again, the Italian social republic where he implemented full state socialism as soon as he didn't have to worry about working within someone else's framework.
Hitler on the other hand was okay with private industry but with heavy government oversight and intervention. The state had the final say in every matter under Hitler's economy, although hitler was certainly no fan of capitalism and its likely that if the war turned out in their favor, that he'd implement policies to destroy it (read the original 1920s manifesto of the NSDAP). But he had to build a war machine quickly, so not much time for tearing down the old order for him.
