In the last 5 years, I've worked for 2 fortune 100 companies. I've worked for a piece of shit mom and pop outfit that offered no benefits. I now work for a smaller company where the benefits are insane. With that being said, my current employer encourages people to use their benefits as it improves morale.

At one of the fortune 100 companies I worked at, I was an hourly employee. If there was no work, I was not getting paid. I ended up using my vacation days and my sick days just to fill out the hours in my week. Can you imagine that? A company with profits in the billions and they won't pay you because everything is transactional with the company. Lord forbid that an employee becomes and overhead cost.

In America, the good jobs are super rare. The cut throat business plan is the norm. Most small companies have owners that are only about themselves and getting rich. This is why a lot of guys in the trades create their own company. If you create your own company, you'll probably end up working too much trying to build the company. When you finally have it all figured out, you're now 63 and you die of ass cancer.
