Brown rice is worse than white rice but its all unnecessary calories if youre going for weight loss. If youre trying to bulk rice is great but less carbs is better for weight loss
thanks for pointing out my error. i guess i should look for a cutting diet instead? assuming it's successful, would that give me a better "overview" of what i have and haven't in terms of tone?
Also whats your current body composition? If youre not big and trying to cut i would say stop that and focus on strength. Lots of carbs lots of heavy lifting
Gaining size comes from lifting heavy and eating. Look into beginner heavy lifting programs like 5x5 or 5/3/1. If youre going to put on muscle i would say keep eating what youre eating. 1-2 grams of protein per lb of body weight. Lots of clean carbs. Once you can squat 315 5x5 i would say you could start cutting.
Weight loss with calisthenics youre going to want to be in ketosis. So no more than 20-30 net carbs per day. Stick to high fat high protein. Eggs with cheese, bacon, beef patties, steak, fatty fish. Things like that. Broccoli and kale and spinac sauteed in butter. If you eat that and no sugar and keep on calisthenics you will cut weight. Make sure to be drinking lots of water. I remember when i visited germany, many getmans didnt really drink water. I thought that was weird. In america water is a whole culture. So drink at least a gallon a day. In the beginning when youre in ketosis you will pee alot because your body is flushing out glycogen.
69g is more than your 20g allowable per day intake. So no on rice if you want ketosis. But based on what weve been talking about, you need to worry about clean eating and lifting heavy. You will lose weight and build muscle at the same time.
(i'm going for weight loss while doing calisthenics at home)
pudgy, gut-ty, unathletic i guess.
i've been doing incline push ups for arms and shoulders, also side planks for core and cat-cow for back health and mobility.

what's a good beginner weight for a dumbell? i can get a solid deal on a 10kg dumbell. been using only body weight up until now.
edit: should i stick to beef or can i sub in pork, finance-wise?
edit2: i got this Natural Rice With Sheaf, nutrient table says carbs 0,5g sugar per 100g; yay or nay for ketosis? 69g carbs total per 100g
