Can someone please inform me. I’ve always naturally gravitated to gas stoves, however, in our new home we’re now on propane and it just leaks a ton cause the whole place stinks of propane. This is our first time on propane. Is it always this shitty? I had the connection checked out and was told it was the unit that’s not efficiently burning the gas.

We are redoing the kitchen pretty soon. My MIL keeps sending me articles about how gas causes cancer in children. Part of me wants to stick to gas just to spite her but the truth is the gas smell has been giving me headaches.

On the other hand I’m wary of induction. Is it actually safe? Are you transferring radiation to your food?

What is the answer?

Induction is safe as houses. The entire electromagnetic spectrum is “radiation.” Visible light is radiation.

You need all new cookware to use it, however, as it requires magnetism to do the heating. I highly recommend it. It’s fast, too.

Not exactly all new cookware needed, it works for cast iron and stainless steel.

For my wife we use induction now but I would be lying if I say I don't miss the charred smell of good old fire

I have butane and induction. I prefer gas, I don't really like cooking with induction, specially if I have several pots on the stove, sometimes it can be confusing which one you are switching off or turning way up, since the controls aren't that good with touch and you have no visual clues other than the display, with gas I see how big the fire is. I have never cooked with propane so I don't know about the smell. A gas stove will also outlast an induction one and they are cheaper. Other than the feedback you get from a gas stove, they all cook food. Induction is noisy at full power. The pans also tend to bow a lot with induction, they will not be flat at the center. https://files.catbox.moe/4e2533.jpg if you go induction, pick one with controls like this one, obviously not overpriced smeg crap.

Is the flame really large, is the valve partially closed. A lot of shit builders will not convert a gas stove to propane before they sell the house.

Gas does not cause cancer lmfao. Induction is fine. Do not use electric, it's very inefficient. Lots of lost heat as you cannot size the "flame". Takes longer too.

Induction is a million times better than an electric ring.

Perfectly safe and very controllable - unlike an electric ring which heats slowly, cools slowly, doesn't get hot enough.

Oh hang on, you're on weak ass 120v I guess.
Never used propane but at least it is slightly off grid.

I prefer ntural gas to propane, but propane also has some enefits, one of which being that you have your own tank and are "off the grid". Given a choice between propane, electric, and induction I would choose propane.

And, again, electric (coil) and induction each of their benefits and detriments. Induction is much safer. Induction cooks more evenly and consistently. It is easier to control the temperature of induction. But induction does not work with every material - which is what makes it safer than electric coil.

With electrical coil you can cook with any material, and even use it for starting fires if needed, lighting a cigarette or incense, preparing metal utensils for smoking hash. I would choose an induction over electric, but maybe have a portable electric rangetop for applications for which it would be better suited than induction.

So maybe have an induction stove and oven range then also have both a portable propane rangetop or a grill with rangetop for when propane is best and an electric rangetop for when you may needs that, such as if your induction breaks, you don't have materials for induction, SOMETHING goes wrong.

> gas causes cancer

Just turn the hood on when using the stove, it’s easy.
