I'm sure most if not all of you are anti vax but I was curious to hear your opinions on this. What is the possibility it could cause autism and other debilitating side effects ?

I did, but if I did it all again, I probably wouldn't.
The first thing to note is that there is almost no disease that's more dangerous to a child than an adult, so why get anything at 4 months? Anything he'll get, he'll likely survive (might have to deal with some bitching at a hospital visit, maybe not) and gain natural immunity, which works better than the shots. Polio, measles, and chicken pox all used to be endemic in children, and only dangerous in adults, but now we need to vaccinate because everyone else is. If you're going to do it, wait at least until he's in his teens.
Second, check the research shot by shot, brand by brand. I was supposed to get the mennengitis shot for my son but a review of the available research led me to beleive that these shots, while nominally effective against a given strain, actually result in a **higher** rate of disease in **other** strains. Read between the lines.
Third, which shots are for diseases that are actually dangerous? HPV for boys makes little sense. Hep only makes sense if you're going to be sharing needles. Chicken pox isn't even dangerous to kids (probably the same for polio and measles, but I never had those). I had the mumps as a kid with no permanent damage.
Tl;dr: I'm not a doctor, nor am I responsible for your kids. Do the reading and decide what's best for your family.
This is exactly my approach. They basically don't offer much protection at best, cause adverse effects at worse, and ultimately most childhood diseases are not an issue if you have a healthy baby.
A healthy baby is one that is: breastfed by a mother eating a healthy balanced nurtrient rich diet, for a couple years almost. Introducing nutrient rich solids to the baby with breastmilk starting at 6ish months. The baby should also cosleep to be close with mom and or dad. No isolated other room sleeping. And the baby should not be washed too much with antibacterial soaps etc. Just when they are dirty, as most people over scrub newborns and disrupt healthy biofilm, such as the vernix caseosum which is found at birth.
