Because half of them are probably owned by jews, and even if they werent, the schism within Islam makes the internal Christian conflict following the Reformation look like a schoolyard squabble. Sunni and Shia hate each other more than they hate non-muslims.
Its probably the "We are not so different as we had previously imagined" meme, but instead of the two chads figuring it out when exposed to savages, its two savages realizing they cant be savages unless they get rid of chad.
Most of the muslims in the West are sunni. They are not aware that shia even exists. Shia is the blood schism of muhammed. So when muhammed died, his sons wanted to carry on his legacy as the inheritors of his throne. Muhammed was red haired which means he was not Arab. His generals plotted against this and conspired to kill off his heirs. I forget some of the details, but the Arab centric generals won. His family and the shia schism fled to Iran from what I can remember. Been 16 years since I've had to study this stuff so I can't remember all the details so I probably got a lot wrong.
It's closer to the great schism than the reformation. I think that would be more apt. Although orthodox and Catholics don't hate each other as much anymore
After the great schism the 2 churches despised each other. Centuries of disputes ranging from name-calling to outright war and mass murder followed. The Greeks killed 60,000 Catholics in the 1100s just cause. The venetians sacked Constantinople. At many points both sides acrively preferred Muslims to each other.
This continued even into the 1800s with the crimean war basically being France's "fuck you" to the orthodox church because reasons.
I think this mirrors the sunni Shia schism. But the great schism was probably even more violent overall.
Sunnis believe that the successor should be chosen by vote of an assembly, shiites believe that the successor should be a descendant of Mohammad.

That is far from the only reason, just the straw that broke the camels back. There are dozens if not hundreds of reasons why the great schism happened.

Great schism: 1000 years of slight theological differences between eastern and western catholicism snowballing into creating 2 completely different sects
Reformation: the western catholic church pissed a bunch of people off
