Inflation is calculated a few ways, but the "core CPI" leaves out food and energy as they are "too volatile"...lmao. There are also "hedonic" adjustments. So a product might nominally cost 20% more in 2026 vs 2006, but hey it's got more pixels or whatever so it "better" amd therefore the actual price inflation was "really" only 5%...
All I know is that I make about double what I did 15 years ago, but maybe feel like 10% "richer" despite promotions and experience... My pay is up 200% but my groceries are 400%.
