Both comments are kind of true.
You can save up some money with a CDL because you're working 60+ hours a week, and essentially a babysitter of the truck so you're not even going to have the opportunity to spend money because you're just glued to the truck all the time.
Everything else is a bit of an exaggeration. The main issue is truck drivers only drive trucks, they don't do anything else.
As far as saving money, you kind of need to ask yourself what you're saving money for?
You're driving a truck, you have some money saved up, you can't use it because you're always driving a truck. So the only way to spend it is to quit your job. Well if you quit you no longer have income. Are you able to magically turn that money into a better opportunity? Probably not.

That's part of what I'm talking about. It's not a "silver bullet" to your problems. It's a job like any other and one you'll have to quit eventually because your body will only let you do it for so long. Everybody that's done the job is glad to retire, even if they like to reminisce. Lots of young men have gone into the trades thinking about the money without thinking about the cost -- time, health, relationships, etc.
All I'm saying is that you gotta know what you're getting yourself into -- the good and bad!

Yeah it only works for a tiny percent of people, most truck drivers either quit or waste decades driving trucks.
If you’re going to sacrifice yourself in such a manner, better to do it somewhere where you have a plan. Like I’m going to go to school for 4 years, be poor and do homework all night but after 4 years I’ll have a satisfactory situation and that sacrifice will pay off. As an example.
Sacrificing yourself in this no plan way for money that is constantly losing purchasing power is stupid. The best thing in life is opportunity not money. You won’t be encountering any opportunities inside of a truck. It’s almost negative opportunity.

Amen! This is the absolute truth. The best thing a young man can do is to expand his network. So many successful men in history got the opportunities they had because they knew the right people. So many "unqualified" people are living good lives because they had the right friends. And remember, you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with, so pick your friends wisely.

Can you expand on this? What happens when you sit for long periods and eat diner food or worse?
