I had to do that stupid personality test as part of my public high school education. It's entirely self reported. Even if the test taker is entirely self aware and honest, which is rarely the case, I still don't think it's useful.

It broadly categorizes personalities, and it does it well on a broad scale. But these people believe if they're an INTJ or whatever, that they neatly fit into that box
I sure don't fit neatly into a box. Depending on the day, I'm 3 different of those classifications. Always a TJ though. Hence it's not a reliable indicator of future behavior.
Midwits love to claim that they're INTJ's because they're the smart ones. Who said it's astrology for nerds? Cause it is.
If I had access to the personality type data of a demographic of people, I could do a lot with that information. Sales analytics is totally into that hocus pocus shit and it works for marketing and advertising.
There's a reason my public high school was giving kids the Meyers Briggs and not a good old fashioned IQ test.
