Jesus was a descendant, via his mother, of Jacob aka. Israel. I assume you understand that Jesus brings salvation, so, therefore, salvation comes through the descendants of Israel.
Jew is often used to refer to ancestry (Jacob), religion (Judaism), ethnicity (Yiddish), or nationality (Israeli). Some people will get obsessed with a narrow definition, or dispute translations.
