Blockades and sanctions are about 90% of the reason why Cuba is in such terrible state. Socialism did the rest, but given that the best of Whites have left, socialism was also the only thing that could effectively pacify the negro population. Once the regime falls, violent crime will skyrocket.

i think cuba's method to prevent rebellion is to keep the people starving. many people catch fish every day in order to get a meal. i doubt anyone will have enough calories to sustain any kind of uprising. keep them poor and running from meal to meal and they will never stand against you.
