Could easily be challenged under the 5th, as forcing him to unlock his phone is effectively forcing him to incriminate himself.

I don't know if it would work, or if it would get to the supreme court, but I don't like the idea of being forced to give the police access to my phone one bit. Not under any circumstance.

They say the laws don’t apply outside of the country, so that’s why they can detain you at customs and search your gear.

But then they go ahead and try to charge the guy with breaking the law that they said doesn’t exist out of the country.

There is already case law. The cops have to unlock it themselves. But they also didn't have a warrant. So this is of course illegal, but when has that ever stopped zogbots? Plus there was never any RAS for a crime.
