What's suspicious is that he supposedly went to Lebanon to join isis in the first place. Isis, the group which is now functionally non-existent in the middle east (thanks to Assad mostly. The west certainly showed their gratitude to him) and which hardly had a presence in Lebanon even at their height. How would he travel to Lebanon to join isis? Lebanon is just in the periphery of where they were at one point. What's next? Someone going to India to join al qaeda? If he's an islamist and lebanese he certainly would have known that isis today does not even exist in Lebanon, it exists in sub saharan africa. If he wanted to live out his islamist fantasies, he could have just gone to syria and joined the newly islamist Syrian army, with a pat on the back from the west too.
