If Jesus was handsome as the Romans described, it might be why there aren't any descriptions of Jesus in the New Testament. A handsome Jesus contradicts Isiah's prophecy of the ugly messiah.
If anything, Christian leaders have tried to make Christ seem rather average. Saying that Jesus can basically disappear into a crowd. Or that it took a kiss from Judas to distinguish him from the other apostles standing around him.
