I grew up there. They had to put barbed wire fences along the off-ramps to stop people from carjacking you at the light. The police helicopter did its rounds all night and just when you were about to fall asleep it would come by again and shake the windows and hit your house with its spot light. When it got hot for a week in the summer you would see young blacks in wheelchairs that you never knew existed stuck on their porch because they had no ramp.

I'm not quite understanding this. Is it because the electricity went out and their lifts didn't work or they had no AC or something?

Nobody has AC there it hardly ever gets above 80° and in the ghetto they don’t have lifts they didn’t even have ramps. I guess they just lugged them up the stairs one time and left them inside.
