I was surprised only 70k homeschooled out of a population of what, 200+ million in Brazil.
70k?! We have almost 5 million for reference…
For the judge, whose name I haven’t found, explained that the young ladies lack of appreciation for modern mainstream music and its lyrics shows an obvious unacceptable deviation from state control. No kidding!
Just incredible how fucked Brazil is. I met a Brazilian in Orlando Florida 2 years ago. Uber pickup, $60K+ Mercedes. I chat, bring up Bolsonaro— guy flipped out and almost dropped me in middle of road. They are DEEPLY communist.
I remember when Lula won his current election, that Bolsonaro supporters (identifiable at the time by their wearing yellow shirts) were being killed in the streets by criminals.
The key to understanding why criminals were murdering Bolsonaro supporters is that criminals absolutely love Lula and his Worker's Party (PT). Thus, when Lula defeated Bolsonaro last election, there were videos of groups of dozens of these tatted-up brownoid imprisoned criminals watching the results come in on television while cheering and making the L sign ('L' for Lula) with their hands. Brazil's criminals tend to like him or even practically idolize him because he's soft on crime and gives them more money.
Worse still were the videos *outside* of the prisons: videos of criminals firing automatic weapons into the air in celebration, videos of murdered Bolsonaro supporters, and so on.
For all we know, that Brazilian you're talking about is, was, or has family and friends affiliated with the cartels (PCC, CV, FdN, TCP, etc.), and those kind of favela dwellers and other scum immersed in narco-culture are often die-hard supporters of the Brazilian Left (e.g. Lula's PT, PCdoB, UP, etc.). You could almost think of it as a kind of new ideology, 'narco-Leftism', where Left-Wing politics and criminality intersect (the more I think about this, the more obvious it seems: both PCC and CV have been Left-Wing tinged since the 1990s).
