Disagree about repairs. Yes, stuff is less repairable now, but there is an insane amount of after market parts and repair tutorials available. Like the head broke on my old bike pump, 6 bucks for a new one on amazon. Washing machine pump broke (got a sock sucked into it), typed the number on it into ebay and got an aftermarket for 10 bucks. It's very rare that I have to throw something out because it can't be fixed.

There are certain types of products I avoid buying because of repairability. For example, inflatables. Yes you can patch them, but it never lasts.

It is only one example, but I seem to remember the FNX series of pistols absolutely needing a new safety lever in order to reassemble if you detail strip because you WILL break it during the disassembly process.
