chaff is an apt way to put it. people genuinely believe ideology and politics are "too complicated" to understand. there is almost a worship of this Insurmountable Complexity of Life because it lets people check out completely and pretend nothing is ever understandable or controllable. they'd sooner pretend that people and politicians are eldritch beings with foreign, four-dimensional minds than ever admit to themselves that murderous psychopaths, like jews, exist and need to be dealt with.
It's exactly this lens that they don't want you to look through.

I think many people just aren't inherently that evil, and so cannot believe how someone else could be that evil. *"Ohhhh, no one is sitting there plotting all this. That's a waste of time..."*
I think it's genuinely that simple. Most White people are gentle, simple people that just want their labor to be theirs and live in peace.
