You know, I never actually thought about this but that does seem to be the case despite my wife feeding my dogs 90% of the time. They LIKE her more for sure, follow her around the house more and prefer to cuddle with her - but when I give a command it's often as if god parted the clouds and shouted it down at them himself.
But it's a different quality of respect. Does your dog not respond quicker and more attentively to you versus your wife?
Also, some dog breeds are more humanized. Akitas and ChowChows are on the opposite end.
