Priests live off the Church, tax-free. They're literally "uncancellable" and situated more than anyone in society to speak Truth to this society!

They don't have a wage job they can really be fired from.

They don't have a wife or kids that can be bullied or threatened.

They don't have any worldly possessions to sue for or seize.

Attacking them can even be classified as a hate crime.

way back when the bible was written your "neighbors" were people of your same tribe, meaning your same ethnicity, nationality, and religion. It did NOT mean foreign invaders who are none of those.
