Gentlemen,
I think we all know and see that something is coming. Obviously the most important thing is securing a network of likeminded friends to rely upon, stacking gold/silver/lead, and having water/food supplies on hand. What goes hand in hand with this preparatory planning is physical training. I would recommend functional style training, along with a STRONG foundation of cardio. Don’t fall for the body builder meme, start running NOW. Over the last two months I have gotten my mile time down to 8m/mi for a sustained 5 miles. Building your body’s “gas tank” so you can push harder, go further is integral not only to building mental hardiness but also may be the difference between life and death.
Start running. Today.
First you need to just do the bigger muscle large reps at lower weights till you get a baseline of strength then you need to work on the fficiency of that muscle and switch to higher weight lower reps. Rowing is a good warmup at a certian piont.
Cardio is just making you get tired. Youa re better to get tired while building the muscle and get hot and sweaty from the right weight for the number of reps you are doing than to just burn calories for the sake of it. Endurance can be built with cardio but it is really inefficient as a mechanism compared to building muscle and then making that muscle stronger . Your bodys gas tank will go up more from having endurance training or power training than from cardio, all it makes you good at is whatever specific task you are doing your cardio on ( which is why full body cardio like rowing and swimming is superior as cardio( or rock climbing))
