Found this little gem but i would try and find the actual jewish encyclopedia that this was written in to verify it’s validity. From the text style it would probably be after the civil war

This was posted here last November, and I spent a good hour looking for the source. I'm sure it exists somewhere, but I couldn't find a PDF of the version of The Jewish Encyclopedia that it came from. Post again if you have better success than I do.
