We absolutely crushed Iraq and Afghanistan right off the bat. Shock and awe. And then we got bogged down dealing with insurgents. Boots on the ground is a gigantic mistake in that sort of place unless we're willing to forget all the civilized rules of war and go full Genghis Khan mode.
