Catholic monarchies were better than any alternative the liberals tried to install. Robespierre was effectively a power-tripping reddit mod for his time.
Authority is attached to truth, which is Christ. Any monarchy that strays from truth and justice will have its temporal authority seen as oppression by the people. A true holy king is merely the highest servant of the people, same as a truly holy pope is merely the highest servant of the clergy.
Still, monarchies in general are more natural than democracies. They‘re closer to the natural order of things where competent people should be at the top. Right now we have an inverted order with the most incompetent people at the top, held there because of „muh democratic principles“ (to give a retarded person and a wise man equal time to speak in parliament).
Not every king was equally competent, but I would dare to say that the most incompetent Catholic king (except Henry VIII) was more competent than the US government today.
