You'll start pissing more than usual. Sugar makes you retain water. The water gets released when you drastically reduce your sugar intake. Most people lose about 2.5 liters of retained water after about 7 days, a liter of water weighs 2.2 pounds. If you can stick below 50 grams of carbs a day the first week, you'll lose about 5 pounds right away. The extra pissing will subside after the water you're retaining is gone. I started doing Keto in 2020. I weighted 255 (I'm 6'1"). The last time I weighed myself was in March of this year. I weighed 170. Aim for 35 grams a day, because it's easy to mess up and go over that. It's better to mess up a low target, rather than a target of 50 grams a day. Ignore the amount of sugar on the label of what your eating. Only concern yourself with the amount of carbs. A lot of people make the mistake of only counting sugar grams. Carbohydrates convert to sugar in your body. That's why you have to only track the amount of carbs. After you get used to doing this for awhile and figure out what you can eat, it gets easier. Most people consume an average of 270 - 300 grams of carbs a day. Look at the labels and see what you've been eating and drinking to get an idea of what you're average was. When I first started keto, I screwed up.. because I continued to put milk in my coffee, not realizing how many carbs were in it. – if you exercise while on this diet, you will lose weight even faster. I didn't start exercising until the Summer of 2024. I've had no ill side effects from doing this for this long, only benefits.
