Imagine how it feels to be a property owner on a land you have paid off, yet they charge you more and more.


The government is leaning into housing prices going up because it is easy income in taxes , especially in a market where no one is buying houses, because they cost too much.


You either pay them the mafia like extortion taxes or you lose your house and land. Even if you own it outright. EVEN IF YOU OWN IT OUTRIGHT!

Mob: Nice windows, be a shame if someone threw a Molotov cocktail in them.

Government: Nice house, give me money or I take it and make you sleep under the boardwalk.
That sounds fucked up to everyone except a liberal politician.

It’s even worse if you don’t “own” it versus the bank. Than you have to have homeowners and flood insurance here in Louisiana on top of property tax. Most people deductibles are at least 20k on top of your monthly premium which goes up every single year. A new roof for most five bedroom or smaller houses here won’t exceed 20k, so you’re better off coming out of pocket. It’s all a fucking scam. I know people who don’t own their home yet paying 20-30k a year between the three payments. This is before you must meet your deductible. It’s fucking insane.

Yeah those property taxes that keep going up directly with inflation is fucking bullshit. My salary goes up with "inflation" which is 2% but my house price and tax has gone up 45% in 3 years. And why am I getting taxed on unrealized property gains? And if I go upside down on my property, do I get tax refunds?

I have had this argument with my boomer parents for decades who make excuse after excuse as to why this ok because Muh Roads and Sckoolz.
