It’s even worse if you don’t “own” it versus the bank. Than you have to have homeowners and flood insurance here in Louisiana on top of property tax. Most people deductibles are at least 20k on top of your monthly premium which goes up every single year. A new roof for most five bedroom or smaller houses here won’t exceed 20k, so you’re better off coming out of pocket. It’s all a fucking scam. I know people who don’t own their home yet paying 20-30k a year between the three payments. This is before you must meet your deductible. It’s fucking insane.
