Chicken thighs cooked in yesterday's bacon fat with celery. Seasonings: Garlic powder, onion powder, hickory liquid smoke, tamari soy sauce and MSG.

Louisana Popcorn Rice.

Three meals. Total input, $10. Time.

Now ... if I really want to break it down, I'll have rice left over for making breakfast cakes. Just add an egg, make a patty, fry and you got a nice snack/meal/breakfast to get your metabolism going.

Sounds good. I'd eat that.

looks nice but consider either skipping the rice or replacing it with a mashed potato or something, rice as far as i know has very little nutritional value and is just "stomach filler". Also i would add the real stuff instead of powders, a bit of chopped garlic and green onion rather than just that in powder form.

Came here looking for a busybody offering 'advice' nobody asked for. Wasn't disappointed.

Who gives a shit if it has no 'nutritional value'? You think he's suffering fucking scurvy?

>i would add the real stuff instead of powders

Powders *are* 'real stuff'. They're the same thing just ground up and dehydrated.

Empty-ish, yes, but I was looking more for a flavour and texture profile.

I also should have made a slurry for a gravy, but ran out of time.

looks kinda basic, what did you use for seasoning?

interesting choice with MSG, i just use kelp-infused salt for that umami flavor (that are best mixed with either soy sauce or fish sauce)

though personally if you're using rice i recommend green thai curry, it blends extremely well.

I don't use it all that much ... and I don't understand the weird bad-rap it gets but ... 'eh. As far as kelp-salt, we don't have that around here, and if we do, it's in the hippy-dippy stores.

I'll look into the curry, since I like cooking exotic foods on the occasion.

Thank you.

The 'bad rap' of MSG was completely fabricated by a food critic mad at a Chinese restaurant.
