I can assure you, the spider does not realize that what it sees is its own reflection. They are too simple for that.
It may be thinking however "damn, this guy is pretty good!" 😄

Yeah, that little dance could be a show of a aggression, spiders are territorial creatures. Every year a cardinal nests in the tree outside the break room where I work, and it spends hours attacking his reflection in the window, thinking it's another male.

As far as I know, these are jumping spiders who actually make this little dance to impress their mate. They are rather cute for being spiders 😄

Ants can do it, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility other small creatures can. Though I do think you're right.

It is funny seeing cats trying to attack themselves when they see a mirror, so the fact that ants can is amazing.
