On February 5, 1840, Padre Tommaso and his Muslim servant, Ibrahim Amara, vanished in Damascus. Their disappearance led to accusations from local Christians, supported by the French consul Ulysse de Ratti-Menton, that members of the jewish community had murdered them to use their blood for ritual purposes.
Several jews confessed to murder and using the blood for a ritual but of course the jewish community later claimed these were false confessions that came from torture, because jews can never do any wrong.
The bodies were never found.
Any public review of Sir Burton's work documenting the case is too dangerous for the goy to see.
The best book on Jews' sacrifices that I've heard of is Passovers of Blood by Israeli historian Ariel Toaff. I still have to read it though. I wonder if he talks about this case.
