Sephardis are likely ( and they admit as much through genetic testing) descended from the Canaanites, who were ordered exterminated by God Himself in the bible, and called a "wicked seed from the beginning" because they not only practiced human sacrifice, but *sacrificed their own babies* as well. On February 5, 1840, Padre Tommaso and his Muslim servant, Ibrahim Amara, vanished in Damascus. Their disappearance led to accusations from local Christians, supported by the French consul Ulysse de Ratti-Menton, that members of the jewish community had murdered them to use their blood for ritual purposes.

Several jews confessed to murder and using the blood for a ritual but of course the jewish community later claimed these were false confessions that came from torture, because jews can never do any wrong.

The bodies were never found.
