Not necessarily. Torba (as much as he's done shady stuff in the past), has said that blanket IP bans on nations, even though VPNs are available, still works well to quash bad behavior from specific nations.


It's the same thing as door locks. A good thief can easily get around a lock, but it serves as an impediment, reducing the likelihood of the thief stealing. Doors, walls, a dog, an alarm, a gun, security guards, walls, they all serve the same purpose, and the more you have, the less likely you are to get thieved, as each impediment adds on top of the other impediments.

According to Torba, blanket IP bans work pretty well. Andrew Torba is the CEO of Gab. He's talked about IP bans several times. When Gab blanket IP banned Israel, almost all of the porn posting stopped. I think they recently IP banned India recently, which stopped some other bad behavior (I don't remember which, though).


I asked C about blanket IP banning for this site. I didn't get a response.

I've pinged him on your thread with an alternative with no response as well. Then he replied here without being pinged. So he's a were of this problem, and he's probably pondering on it. Taking into account the amount of jew and jeet trolling I hope u/C does something about it rather sooner than later as trolling does not compute as free speech.
