Been building my duck herd. This will bring us to 20 ducks. Hope to sell the duck eggs at the farm stand for twice what I charge for chicken eggs. Right now we sell chicken eggs and eat the duck eggs mostly, but hopefully soon we will be overwhelmed with both. 50 chickens and 20 ducks seems like a good number for now.

i've heard ducks are harder to upkeep than chickens, is that true? i want to get 1 chicken to start with. i will likely keep it indoors, way too hot outside and also HOA.
Always liked my chickens more. They're cleaner. Ducks can be a shit festival.
Pros:
Easy to grow big. They are born bigger than chickens and eat less and grow fast. Do not need as warm conditions as chickens.
Cons:
They love water. They love to play in it, spread it. Turn it into mud. They use 10x more water than chickens. That is it
Only exception might be is if you already have ponds or bodies of water nearby on the property.
