From an objective stance, he is notable because he created a comic called "cheech wizard", which has it's own wikipedia page and partially inspired a movie called "wizards" in 1977.
From my point of view, he is only notable because someone compared my art to his for whatever reason.

Comix is the name of the genre that Bodē fits in. Robert Crumb is the best known artist/author of that style. I don’t hate all of it, it’s kind of the evolution of the pulp zine, and there have been some interesting projects that were inspired by the comix style, like a lot of Ralph Bakshi’s animations. But it’s basically a degenerate genre by definition, it’s like the punk of the 60s art world.
