Most Germans at the time had also never seen a negro, the cartoonist may have painted them like humans because he assumed they were somehow a human like creature. This simply boils down to lack of knowledge.
But somehow smart enough to accurately depict the future. Can any I love Science soyjacks explain that one?
To this day you can ask anyone in Europe to describe America and American culture, most people you ask will be ~95% correct but get significant details wrong. Americans love to point out those errors, instead of being impressed over how much non-Americans actually knows about America.
It's an interesting phenomena, and some jewish programming goes into this too. If people argue over those insignificant details, nobody notices the main point, which in this case is an otherwise very accurate prediction of negroes living in a White country, among Whites and is treated like humans, even tho they're a different species.
