I've been having a semi-playful argument with a friend for years about "democracy". He insists the system works, it's just never implemented properly due to corruption. I tell him it's *designed* with these flaws, to *allow* corruption, therefore it's inherently broken.

Another point for me, I guess.

there's a very good quote to use for exactly this concept: the purpose of a system is what it does. i've noticed that once you drive that in, normies default to a very weaksauce "but wouldn't it be nice..." stance that pretty much shuts them up (and lets you talk)

Beyond internal corruptiom, democracy is an incredible weakness in terms of foreign powers.

They don't even have to go to war, they just undermine all candidates except the one who supports what they want and the country destroys itself.

You should tell him the quotes of Hamilton and Madison regarding democracy. They knew it was shit hundreds of years ago. That may get through to him.
