North Korea started as a dungheap. The Japanese invaded and made things slightly better. The Koreans were always 3rd worlders. The fact that South Korea is doing so well doesn't mean North Korea started out that way.

People look at a poor starving country and think that it's caused by the government, as if those things didn't exist before the government did. Ridiculous.
