> Then oddly similar I hear is the current job hunt process. I've heard of people applying to literally hundreds of jobs

I put out nearly 400 applications for my current position in the span of a couple weeks. I applied to every open position on the big three that had my keywords and met my salary requirement. I didn't even read the posts unless they responded favorably.

I actually had to coach a few friends of mine through this too - volume is key these days.

Volume may be the solution to the problem volume created.

When every job hunter is applying for 100 jobs, it makes the labor pool expand, which means employers are pickier.

It's the same problem with colleges. Each HS kid is applying to 12 schools so the demand at any individual school is 12x greater than it rightfully should be, so the schools charge absurd tuition.

People watered the tree that they would eventually hang from.

Same. And it’s extra infuriating when you have a bunch of promoted posts on LinkedIn from Pajeets telling you it’s *not* a numbers game & to tailor your resume & interview skills.

Like, bitch, you’re getting hired because you’re asking for a third of the wage I am for the same job I’m actually good at. Go back home!
