at that point i might just hire assassins

but that would ultimately end in his demise and his family incarcerated, and for a Christian a violent resolve is probably the last option

"Go the extra mile." for the centurion that made you carry his gear? Yeah, that'd get him punished by the sergeant for breaking the "only one mile" rule.
