Gonna be an unpopular opinion here, but guns are inherently evil. They shouldn't exist and certainly not in the hands of citizens. Why do we need killing machines capable of murdering multiple people at once? This is why I believe democrats should own neither guns nor cars - let them keep their peace and their truth. As a matter of fact, they should donate all twenty guns that they collectively own to conservatives. Let us deal with the burden of this awful technology.
Guns are the equalizers of our age. Whereas any other age the general populace were at the mercy of their overlords, who possessed the weaponry to be capable of undeterred tyranny, modern guns in the hand of the populace prevent such situations, looking no further than the American Revolution. Of course, like any other thing in the world, guns can be abused when in the wrong hands, but that doesn't mean the general populace shouldn't have them. Almost every incident that involved a crazy person with a gun could have been immediately stopped if every other sane person was armed (like that guy that stopped the Indiana mall shooter back in 2022). Although I understand your reasoning, I have to disagree on guns being inherently evil. If that's the case, the argument could be made for every other form of weaponry being evil as such things are also capable of killing multiple people at once. We have to remember that the foundational reason for having weaponry like guns is for defense.
Any government that doesn't derive their powers from the people they govern is a tyranny and should not exist.
The **government** should not have guns. If they need someone to fight, they should ask the citizens to do so on their behalf. If the citizens say "no" then the government can't fight a war at all.

Government IS the citizens.
