Yeah it sucks and those hollow doors they use in bedrooms these days are just as bad. Flimsy pieces of cardboard with shitty tinfoil doorknobs. Another thing jews have ruined.

It's all by design, these thin weak materials provides no insulation. Notice how modern houses are also built without roof overhang, and with big windows.
Back in the days before the AC was invented, indoor heat was regulated by providing shade for the windows and by using materials that keep the heat out, such as stone.
Now you depend on an electronic jew to keep your indoor temperature reasonable. While back in the days it was all Gods work.
A lot of older houses would have good sized windows on opposite sides of the house, so you could open them all and get a breeze running through. Of course, modern builders don't care enough to figure out which direction catches the most wind, so just stick windows on wherever. They also had large, shaded porches where you could spend the hottest part of the day.

Awnings are still very popular in Germany and Spain, although the modern version is this grotesque aluminium thing, rather than fabric or wood.
