For many, the prooftext for supporting Israel is Genesis 12:3 and if that verse applies to Abraham's descendants, it applies to Jesus Christ who is the ultimate descendant and fulfillment of the Abrahamic covenant.

Now you tell me how it blesses Abraham (who "rejoiced to see My [Jesus'] day"), to support people who actively curse Jesus who is the physical descendant of Abraham.

Christians today believe the jews are chosen and special because their pastors preach it, and their pastors teach this because that is what they were taught the Bible *really* means.

Supporting the jews is also comparatively recent - go back before about the late 1800s and you don't see Christians loving the jews - jews were seen as stubborn future Christian converts at best or subversive aliens at worst (leading to them being kicked out of 109 countries).

If descent from Abraham alone counts as fulfilment of the promise, the Arabs are equally God's Chosen People™.

They're the tainted dregs who refused the Messiah when he was in front of them. It's no wonder their religion is one that tries to trick God and bathe in the blood of the innocent. They're the people who were so defective they formed a mob and put the God they didn't recognize on a cross.
