To be fair, a lot of farmers are in (((debt))) out the ass for all that equipment, land, and seed, and will work their whole lives trying to pay it all off.
Nignorance.
It's an extremely difficult way to earn a living, and they're the hardest workers at it. Yeah they can make some serious money from doing it, but because the (((prices))) of everything increase exponentially for them they *have* to have millions of dollars of machinery and hundreds of acres just to turn a profit. The least laziest people you'll ever see will be farmers. Many farmers don't even own their own equipment either; they rent/share it all between themselves because of how expensive it is.
I live in the midwest and my father drives a truck for a farming family during harvests. They have 6-8 weeks of hard work during the fall harvests and plantings *alone*. Sure the brunt of the work is during the fall, but there's a couple other harvests during the rest of the year, as well as plantings. There's also sprayings and fertilizings year round as well. Juggling it all is not an easy job. Yes I will concede that raising livestock and/or dairy might be a harder job because I know people who do that too, but that wasn't really apart of the question.
Sadly, they will be $300k in debt for that machinery, and who knows what poisons are being dumped there. We often get in our own way with being ‘industrious’.
Most farmers are German. Germans probably taught agriculture and engineering to the Egyptians/Greeks/Romans.
